"Throughout recent history, the models of treatment for all substance use disorders have followed a primarily abstinence-based philosophy, as first developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. It works for many in recovery. Many, but not all. It has become tragically clear that abstinence-based recovery programs are not working for a large portion of the opioid-addicted population. WAVE Medically Assisted therapy was designed with this in mind.
WAVE believes in, and is committed to, keeping the community informed so as to reduce the negative stigma attached to MAT. WAVE has made a mission out of educating the public about what MAT is, what MAT is not, and why it is the best means of paving a new way forward for individuals who are struggling in their recovery from opioid or alcohol dependence."
